MOBILIZING FOR ACTION
MKE United's foundation is the collaboration of diverse leaders from a variety of entities, constituencies and demographics who came together for strategic action sessions to identify MKE United’s transformative directions and form working groups to drive action. Over the past two years MKE United has worked diligently to convene working groups, made up of dedicated Milwaukeeans that work in or have a passion for one of the transformative directions. These groups aim to generate tangible and feasible targets, strategies, pilots and metrics so that the MKE United Action Agenda can be realized.

COMMUNITY LEADERS
HOUSING
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/ EMPLOYMENT
The MKE United Community Leaders group was formed to design and implement an innovative, transparent, and inclusive feedback loop model to integrate resident voice at every stage of the MKE Unite planning process and ensure our work is benefitting the neighborhoods we intend to serve.
The MKE United Housing work group was formed to move the Transformative Direction vision around "lifestyle neighborhoods" and housing from concept into strategies and implementation. They have been focused in three areas: homeownership, rental housing, and neighborhood investment patterns/devaluation.
The MKE United Economic Development and Employment work group was formed to move the Transformative Direction vision around "inclusive growth" from concept into strategies and implementation. They focus on three areas: upskilling careers in healthcare, benefits cliffs, and intersections between transportation and employment.

SHARED PROSPERITY PARTNERSHIP
MKE United has been a member of the Shared Prosperity Partnership since 2018. SP2 is a collaboration of The Kresge Foundation, the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program, the Urban Institute, and Living Cities that convenes local leaders in select communities across the United States to discuss challenges to inclusive growth and provide data, research, and access to national experts, networks, and financial resources. MKE UNITED
ANTI-DISPLACEMENT
FUND
The Anti-Displacement Fund was established by MKE United in 2019 to provide grants to help ensure that long-time, income eligible homeowners living in near downtown neighborhoods are not displaced due to increasing property taxes associated with rising property values and new development. Learn more here!
INNOVATIVE SHARED OWNERSHIP MODELS
MKE United has been exploring mechanisms for resident and community ownership to ensure that as investment occurs, neighbors are able to benefit from it. We have engaged with Invest CIT out of Portland, OR to learn about implementing a Community Investment Trust (CIT) model in partnership with other community organizations.
