$300,000 fund launched to prevent gentrification around downtown Milwaukee

A $300,000 private fund launched this month to prevent gentrification in growing neighborhoods around downtown Milwaukee by helping homeowners pay their increasing property taxes.

 

Created by the organizations behind MKE United, the anti-displacement fund could help about 265 homeowners in Walker’s Point and north of West McKinley Avenue stay in their homes even if encroaching commercial development increases their assessments and taxes.
